GREENHOUSE
TECHNOLOGY 2 Semester(s) 1 Credit(s)
This class studies the production of various greenhouse
plants such poinsettias, African violets, perennials
and ferns. Instruction also includes the principles
of growing spring flowering bedding plants as well as
vegetable transplants, variety selection, seed propagation,
fertilization, and insect-disease control. Students
will receive firsthand experience in raising these plants
as well as marketing them. This course includes a study
of greenhouses and growing structures. Content may be
enhanced with appropriate computer applications. Leadership
development will be provided through FFA. Each student
will be expected to have an agricultural experience
program.
FLORAL DESIGN I

This course includes: floral design techniques using
silk, dried, and fresh flowers; operating and managing
a florist business; interior plantscaping; and identification,
production and cultural maintenance practices of plants
used in interior landscapes. House plant identification
will be emphasized. Content may be enhanced by appropriate
computer applications. Leadership development will be
provided through FFA. Each student will be expected
to have an agricultural experience program. This class
offers valuable skills for gaining employment in the
floral areas.
LANDSCAPING 2 Semester(s)
1 Credit(s)
This course prepares students for occupations in the
landscaping industry. The program consists of: site
evaluation including sketching, planning, and drawing
landscape plans; performing calculations related to
landscape construction; and identification of landscape
plants and their characteristics. Estimating, bidding,
installation and maintenance of landscape plants will
be included. Various field trips will be taken to enhance
classroom instruction. Content may be enhanced by appropriate
computer applications. Leadership development will be
provided through FFA. Each student will be expected
to have an agricultural experience program. This class
is recommended for anyone wishing to gain employment
in landscaping locally.
