This class is designed for freshmen who plan to attend college or vocational school or to enter the world of work following graduation. Emphasis will be placed on grammar usage, vocabulary building, literature, speech and composition. In addition, time will be spent learning practical skills of everyday living and the world of work.

This class is designed for sophomores and will stress basic skills in English. Emphasis will be placed on vocabulary development, the mechanics of writing, and standard English usage. The literature phase will center around the characteristics of short stories, novels, drama, as well as nonfiction.
