Big bats bring win over Daviess Co.
By: Emilee Duvall

The E-gals have started out this season with some big wins and some big losses as well. The E-gals start a very young team this year composed of many eighth graders and underclassmen. But the lack in age and experience has not seemed to phase the E-gals yet who hold a solid record of 8 and 5.
This is Coach Bullington's second year as the head coach. The E-gals had no seniors return this season.
The E-gals did return, however, five juniors, Gabrielle Murphy, Natalie Hardesty, Olivia Leonard, Jennifer Krampe, and Sheridan Johnson to lead the squad. Katie Carpenter and Emily Girtison make up the varsity pitching staff. The rest of the team is composed of underclassmen all the way down to eight graders starting for the team. A lot of players on the team have little varsity experience, but all have been playing softball for most years of their life and are fairly prepared to play at this level.
In Apollo's first meeting with the Daviess County Lady Panthers, the girls were at them from the get go. The E-gals bats showed up and they put hits together to get players on base and score. Pitcher Katie Carpenter was able to hit her spots and pitch well against the Lady Panthers. Apollo's defense was there to solidly back her up.The girls pulled out the big win 6 to 1.
The E-gals have also met with district rival and number 1 ranked Owensboro Catholic. The lone hit of the game was done in the first inning as Gabrielle Murphy cranked one to the fence in the first inning. The E-gals remained hittless after that. Our girls lost this game 7 to 0.
