There's no place like home

By: Emilee Duvall

I hear so many people talk about how much they hate this school. People just don't see how lucky they are to be a part of this place. This is my home. I love Apollo High School, and I wouldn't want to go to any school other than this one.

At Apollo, there is a loose dress code. That allows students to wear whatever their little heart so desire, like Emma Hunt and her spandex pedal pushers and hot pink heels. Other schools have more of a dress code that hinder students' ability to be themselves.
Apollo's teachers make up the core of Eagle spirit. Every student has that one teacher that they connect with. What school can you think of that has more spirited teachers? Give me an A!! (COUGH!) Mrs. Jones.

Brandon Farmer says his favorite people are Mr. Travis and Mr. Broughton. "The school would not be the same without them," he states.

This school has the best faculty. Our lunch ladies, for example, slave away for hours to make us lunch. Not only that, they take the time to try and learn all the students names, and out of a student body of about 1300, that's a lot of names. Our janitors also take the time to clean up the mess that we students tend to create. Mrs. McDivitt in the front office is always there with a smile. She's Apollo's mom.

I can't think of any other place I've been with people from so many different walks of life. Apollo gives many chances to meet all kinds of different people. It's just the right size where you know a lot of people, but might see a few faces you've never seen before.
Who will ever be able to forget the boys basketball team's trip to state this year? And the clean record they can kept unlike some other schools? The entire student body came together to cheer our boys at Rupp. Now,THAT was cool.

Also our band, ROTC, cheerleaders, national qualifying dancteam (woo!), Blue House Players and our FFA make up a big part of the Apollo atmosphere. Hold your head up guys, you've got something to be proud of here at AHS.
