Off and running...indoors
by: Natalie Allen
Managing Editor

As December first roles around most students begin thinking about Christmas, Jesus's birth, shopping, and Santa. A select number of athletes, however, have more to concentrate on. These studentshave already started running to prepare for the upcoming indoor track season.
Coming off a 2nd place finish at the state indoor meet last year, Coach Phelan has high hopes for his young men this year.
"We lost a couple of key people who contributed to our success last year, but the returning runners are a very solid group," Phelan said. "If the guys can stay focused, healthy and find a way to fill in some spots, they can be in contention for another regional title."
The returning members who went to state from both girls and boys track are: Curtis Kindle, Boo Lawrence, Derek Jones, and Marcus Allen.
The runners have set individual goals for this season.
Senior, Marcus Allen wants to go undefeated in the 400. As well as run a 48 second 400m dash.
Junior, Christina Stodghill plans to run a mile under 6 minutes and run a 800 in 2:30. She also hopes to run the 4by800 at state and beat Daviess County.
Junior, Beth Ewing wants to get under 2:20 for the 800 and under 1 minute for the 400. She really wants to grow closer to members and Flener.
Sophomore, Tiawanna Tutt hopes to get in shape for outdoor track and to accomplish perfection of the blocks. She also said, "If any more time I want it to be with my man Curtis Kindle!"
