At the bottom of the barrel
by: Brandon Farmer
Senior Editor

Well, here I am again, writing another editorial for the Challenger newspaper. I have written many things for the paper, covering many things; Freidirich Nietzche and his work, to problems with the cafeteria. Not to mention my celebrated "hunting" article. By the way, I was greatly impressed with the feedback I recieved on my article. Two young men, undoubtably both with superior intellect to my own, came to me with their rebuttle to my article. Just by saying these two words, "Huntin's cool", I adruptly saw the error in my judgment. Who could argue such an airtight remark as that? Certainly not me, so I shall not try.

That aside, I would now like to push forward with what I have to say this month. Or rather, my LACK of things to say. Every month I constantly hop aboard my mighty soap box to preach to my peers (you guys), about things that I do not like and my good reasons for not liking them. However, I feel that some things should be learned on their own, and now is the time for you people to do so.

How many of you children pay attention to the news, even channel one? Or heaven forbid read a newspaper, excluding the entertainment and sports section! Do you realize what our country is coming to in these times? How about the world? What our politicians are doing? Anything? My guess is no, you are not aware what any of those things are, let alone care. Well it is time that you should start caring, that is, if you care for America.

The war on Iraq, as far as I am concerned, is a total failure. The so-called purpose for our PRE-EMPTIVE strike (that means we attack them first) and domination of Iraq has proved fruitless. How many of you reading this remember WHY Bush decided to declare war on Iraq? Let me refresh your memory, it was to obtain the WMD's that Saddam was lying about, because we thought that he might attack us at any time. Ironically, or maybe not so ironically, Saddam was not lying. America's weapons inspector, David Kay, came to Congress so that he could inform us that Iraq has zero WMD's.

Think about that for a second, my fellow hotshots. Our purpose for killing another country's people, and 538 of our own dying, POINTLESS!!! This means one of the following: American intelligence is so terrible that we do not know what is going on anywhere, OR that President Bush just made up his reasons for war on Iraq, and not only lied to the U.N., he lied to us, his fellow Americans. What is most shocking are the people in America that give him their support. I cannot understand why anyone would support a man that fabricated a reason to waste lives!

I refuse to go further with the information in this article on the grounds that I will not always be around to hold the hands of you, my peers. Unfortunately for America, we are its future, and we need to be more aware of the problems that are going on in our society.
