The first week of the month of February
is observed as National School Counseling Week.
Schools all over America sponsor festivities and special
activities in awareness of the special work that counselors
do.
Apollo counselors had much to say about
this week of recognition and the demanding but rewarding
job they have chosen for their life.
Mrs. Kreke says,"I think it's important
to help acknowledge the role that counselors play in
the lives of our students and faculty. It's encouraging
always to be given the love and support of the Eagle
family members."
There are six members of the counselling
staff. Counselors are freshman counselor Taylor, counselor
to the sophomores Ms. Young, junior counselor Mr. Johnson
and senior counselor Kreke.
"Mrs. Stuart and Ms. Tong aren't counselors, but they
do most of our leg work and are very appreciated," says
Mr. Taylor. "We are very fortunate to have them."
Apollo's counselors appreciate being appreciated any
week of the year.
This week, however, is a special week
which the schools of the nation have chosen to set aside
to honor the care and guidance provided by these people.
It is a way of saying thank you and we can't do without
you.
