Apollo's two man wrestling team led by Joey Stone has
done pretty well this season. Joey has been wrestling
for five years. Joey got interested in wrestling while
in middle school." I was not much of a basketball player" Joey admits.
Joey is in the 171 lb. weight class where
he has excelled with 36 wins. The wrestling team is limited
to how many events they can compete in because they only
have two people, so the maxium points they can get at
an event as a team is two.

Joey's dad Kenneth Stone is the coach.
It is hard for the team to practice together but they
practice every chance they get Monday through Friday.
The regional tournament starts February
21st. At the regional tournament Apollo will compete
against many different schools in Kentucky. The top four
in the Region will go to state. At state the top eight
will go to nationals will compete against the top in
the nation. At region, state, and nationals the top wrestlers
also win awards for being the top in region, state, and
in the nation.
The other member on the team is Chip Gossett
this is his first year on the wrestling team. Chip is
a three year lettermen on the varsity football team.
The wrestling team does not have enough
members to compete in all the events so themost points
they can get as a team is twelve. The wrestling team
competes in mainly single events.
Students come out to support the wrestling
team at region next week saturday February the 21st.
