Principle of the thing: A little character education
Let’s be a little more responsible. There’s no one in this building who has not heard me mention how untidy our dining area is left particularly in the morning. I say once again that you are responsible for your tray and its contents so please dispose of them accordingly.
The list continues to grow for some of you. Responsibility also means that each of you should arrive to school on time with proper materials and a good attitude. I know that some days are far better than others, but we have way too many tardies to class and to school.
We see far too many of our students in the office with DM’s or referrals for not having the proper materials and for not putting forth a prudent effort in class. Although Mr. Broughton and Mr. Scott handle the discipline problems once they are reported to the office, at times, I jump in and help. I am always amazed at the lack of responsibility that is exhibited. Have you ever heard the phrase, “You can catch more bees with honey than vinegar”? Well, if you are in trouble and are sent to the office to see an administrator, continuing to be disrespectful will only compound the problem. Just take a few deep breaths and calm down. Again, that’s part of being responsible.
I will close with another old phrase. “If
the shoe fits, wear it.” That’s right, if
you fall into any of these categories, let’s make
a concerted effort to straighten up. If this is not you,
continue to follow the path you are on and the sky will
be the limit.
