The king of early morning TV
By: A.J. Estes - Associate Reporter

When Byron Hamilton began filming short segments for Apollo’s morning news program, ENL, he never envisioned that they would become so popular. “I would just be walking down the hall, and somebody would show up with a camera,” he says. “They always asked me these random questions, so I just gave them equally random answers,” he explained.

Despite his declaration that the ENL segments are merely random answers, these segments have become a highly demanded feature of ENL’s daily broadcast. In fact, they have inspired a miniature cult following within the walls of Apollo High School.
On the morning that a segment airs, ears around Apollo are sure to hear various quotes and impersonations.

Apollo senior Michael Boone insists that, “Byron should have his own talk show. I would watch that everyday. Man, I would stay home from school to watch that.”
Despite the demand for a Byron emceed talk show, Byron is not committed to any specific career field, or college, for that matter. Though a foray into the lucrative field of talk TV may seem an unlikely path for Byron, it is possible. After all, the powers that be did give both Howie Mandel and Sharon Osborne their own shows.

At the present time, Byron is more absorbed with the problem of college. He says that, “I just want to go to college somewhere out of state. I’m thinking I may go somewhere out of state. I’m thinking I may go somewhere in Texas, or maybe to Philadelphia.”
The fame brought on by Byron’s sudden ascension into Apollo’s spotlight, which was punctuated by his rocking performance at the most recent pep rally, has not really changed Byron at all. He likes the attention, but doesn’t think much of his performances. “They’re no big deal,” he says. Byron is more concerned with his interests, which include watching movies, and listening to music. He is a big fan of late seventies and eighties rock, especially classic metal. His favorite musical groups and musicians include Quiet Riot, Iron Maiden, and David Bowie.

He is, in fact, a forerunner of the Bowie-led tie worn on the outside of a sweatervest fashion, a statement he would wear loud and proud, if he were to invest in sweatervests, or a tie. He might just do that too. Byron Hamilton is a man with many dreams.
