"The Passion" is leaving audiences in complete awe
By: Emilee Duvall - Business Manager

The movie "The Passion of Christ" has left millions in tears and sitting in awe in their movie chairs long after the credits have rolled. It has brought controversy, aweness, and revival in the hearts of many. How can someone afford NOT to see this movie?
The movie shows the story of Jesus Christ's last 12 hours on earth. It follows the scriptural tellings of this event nearly verbatim. Mel Gibson did an excellent job in sticking with the scripture.

The movie stars James Caviezel who some may recognize from his roles in Frequency or the bum in Pay it Forward. Caviezel portrays the pain that Jesus felt while being whipped very badly, making it easy for viewers to feel the pain and even whince while watching the movie.

The main point of the movie I think Mel Gibson was trying to make is that Jesus had to die on the cross for our transgressions. You won't see Jesus beg for mercy or ask the Roman governor to pardon him of his sentence. That's what makes this movie so emotional to watch. I don't have a problem with the violence in this movie. How could you have it any other way? A crucifixion was one of the worst ways to die. The movie did justice to the telling of a story that's amost impossible to put into words.

This movie is just as bloody and hard to watch as everybody is saying. When you go, don't buy snacks or a drink because you won't want to eat them. Bring tissues too. And is it true that Caviezel was struck by lightening while filming the movie? I don't know. And what's up with that hairy baby? Again, that's beyond me. Try not to evaluate the movie too much. Things like this movie are better left unexplained and just experienced.
