E-gals seal second seed in the district
By: Emilee Duvall
Business Manager
With the E-gals win over Daviess County at home last week, the girls clenched the second seed in the district. The win was not without some scrifices, however.
In the second inning, shortstop Gabrielle Murhpy collided with Daviess County catcher Bobbi Easler at a play at home plate. The momentum from Gabrielle running and Bobbi Easler turn to tag her left both players in agony on the field. Gabrielle lay on home plate for a while with complaints about not being able to feel her back. "I thought I was paralyzed," remembers G, " I couldn't feel my back and I got scared." BUT, she was safe and that makes it all worth while (wink).
Gabrielle was taken to the hospital on a stretcher and released later that night with reports of only bruised ribs.
Emily Priar also suffered a knee injury when sliding into third that night. That left the E-gals' third baseman and shortstop out with injuries.
Back at the field, the rest of the team was crackin' at the bats and playing excellent defense against the Lady Panthers.
The girls let up a little in the seventh inning to the Panthers, but not enough for Daviess County to see the light. DC scored 2 runs in the seventh and the E-gals won this game 7 to 2.
The E-gals are about to wind up their season and the Challenger staff would like to wish them good luck going into the district.
