Apollo’s FFA attended the 75th national convention on
Friday October 31st. A bus of about 60 FFA members traveled to Louisville Kentucky
to take part in a yearly tradition that the entire FFA nation is involved in.
The convention is a time for all FFA members to get together and recognize programs
and state organizations and to give American degrees.
This year the Apollo FFA received 7 American degrees. We also
received a 3 star national rank, which is the highest honor you can get. A group
of our FFA was able to attend the convention all week. These members were Andrew
Osbourne, Andrew England, Jimmy Gillise, Larry Wedding, Cara Culberson, Kendra
Gossett, Carrie Simmons, Susan Kuegel, and Bridget Schadler.
While they were there they attended many sessions where they
went for meetings, attended dances, and they walked around visiting the booths
that were set up all around Freedom Hall.
Susan
Kuegel entered into the talent competition while she was there. She sang in
front of 40 thousand people on Saturday November 1st. She sang a song that was
written for Stephen Coke, a big member of our FFA who died in a car accident
last school year.
Andrew Osbourne, our FFA president says, “We are able
to meet members of the FFA that we would never be able to meet any other time.
50 thousand people are brought together for youth assembly, it’s a feeling
that you’ll never forget.”
