AHS and DCHS Academic Team Results ....Submitted by John Woolley

Pennyrile Meet #3

The Apollo High School and Daviess County High School academic teams continue to lead the 15-school Pennyrile Academic Association after the third meet of the 2003-2004 school year on October 27.

Both teams are tied for first in the varsity quick recall standings with 6-0 records. Apollo's varsity defeated Owensboro 32-15 and Union County 36-10 while Daviess County's varsity defeated Muhlenberg North 32-12 and Webster County 1-0 by forfeit.

Apollo is first in the junior varsity quick recall standings with a 6-0 record and Daviess County is tied for second with a record of 5-1. Apollo's JV defeated Owensboro 27-13 and Union County 35-3 while Daviess County's JV defeated Muhlenberg North 25-7 and Webster County 1-0 by forfeit.

While comprising 13% of the PAA membership, AHS and DCHS collected 32% of the top 10's in written assessment with 34 out of 106 and 37% of the top 5's with 20 out of 54.

Placing in the top 10 overall were: Varsity - Arts and Humanities: first, Hunter Wight (DCHS); second, Ryan Taber (DCHS); fourth, Taryn Rice (AHS); fifth, Caroline Buchanan (AHS). Language Arts: second, A.J. Estes (AHS); fifth, Katherine Crabtree (DCHS). Social Studies: tied for second, Tyler Sagardoy (AHS) and Bart Swift (AHS); tied for ninth, Katrina Boone (AHS) and Rebecca Hartsough (DCHS). Science: third, Michael Boone (AHS); fifth, Andrew Chacko (DCHS); seventh, Jonathon Brown (DCHS); eighth, Brandon Reynolds (AHS); ninth, Harini Chenna (DCHS). Math: first, Ryan Young (DCHS); third, Chris Bowers (DCHS); fifth, Landon Basham (AHS); 10th, Jeron Maynard (DCHS). Junior Varsity - Arts and Humanities: first, Elizabeth Rogers (AHS); fourth, Daniel Palmer (DCHS); seventh, Andrea Stone (AHS); eighth, Radhika Goyal (DCHS). Language Arts: fourth, Amanda Kirtley (DCHS); sixth, Carrie Gentry (AHS); eighth, Natalie Johnson (AHS). Social Studies: third, Andrew Ashley (DCHS); fourth, Thomas Cameron (AHS). Science: tied for seventh, Drew Burden (AHS) and Sandra Miller (DCHS). Math: first, Jake Machin (DCHS); second, Casey Duckwall (DCHS); sixth, Ian Wilkey (AHS); eighth, Ryan Seabolt (AHS).
