Dear Seniors,
Doesn't that sound wonderful? I hope that you are as excited about your senior year as I am. Every year I try to improve upon what I have done the previous year. So this summer I have a list of things I will be working on, along with reading some novels for class and myself. I do enjoy reading and can't wait to delve into some novels I've recently purchased as well as reading a few of my favorites from college I haven't read in a while.
I have included a copy of your summer reading assignment. I have decided to try Mrs. Matthews approach this year by having you read our first work we will be studying in the fall. Yes, you will have to read this work a second time in August, but I hope you enjoy this novel as much as my previous two honors classes have enjoyed it! You will be reading The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende. She is a delightful and rich novelist, acclaimed by the New York Times . She recently published a new book which I am currently reading titled Zorro , which she was personally asked to write.
If you would like to take another step forward, especially IB candidates, you can read The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum by German Heinrich Boll, a Nobel Prize award winning novelist. We will not be reading this work until December, but it is a work that you can use for your World Literature assignments. This novel is very short, 88 pages, I believe.
I hope that you have a great summer and are looking forward to your upcoming school year. If I can help in any way this summer, answer questions, suggest free reading, I have included my home phone number and my email addresses. Do not fret contacting me at any time.
Have a great summer! Link to summer reading assignment
