Mr. Barrett

Mr. Barrett has taught many subjects like Drafting, Woodworking, Metalworking, Electricity/Electronics, Plastics and TechLab during his 32 years at Apollo. But, for the last 10 years, his main emphasis has been teaching Graphic Arts. He holds a BS, MA and Rank 1 from Western Kentucky University. Jack and Gwen, his wife of 33 years have two children who graduated from Apollo High School. Their daughter Tracy Hood is married and teaches physics at Plainfield High School near Indianapolis while their son Beau is attending the University of Montana in Missoula Montana, studying art education. Tracy presented Jack and Gwen with a grandson, Ethan Charles Hood, on December 7, 2004.

When asked what motivated you to become a teacher, Mr. Barrett answered, “I had a great high school drafting teacher who not only taught drafting but allowed me to believe in myself enough to set goals for my life.” Although, Mr. Barrett says he often wonders if he has a life outside of education he does enjoy many activities with his wife including gardening, traveling and church work.
