Freshman Academy News

Dear Parents and students,

Let me share some information about up coming activities that will be happening here at school involving your student.

The school year is in full swing and the following are some dates that you will want to mark in your calendar.

  • Sept. 14th we will have a freshmen assembly on Making High School Count. Ask your student to share with you, the handout they will receive!
  • Sept. 15th is our Career/Academic/Planning meeting. The topic is successful transition to high school. They will also be receiving a T-shirt. Please have them wear this shirt on spirit days, Eagle Fest, Field trips, and ECT. (Reminder: Wash in cold water)
  • Sept. 16th we will mail your students 4.5-week progress report.
  • Sept. 17th is Eagle Fest. This is our academic pep rally for recognition of the previous years accomplishments. (Mostly upper classmen)
  • Fall Break is October 14th and 15th NO SCHOOL

Please remember our school policy on absences before and after a holiday or break.

These absences will be unexcused unless a dr. statement is provided.  If the student tells you this has been pre-approved, that is incorrect.  The student cannot make up any daily assignment or quizzes – only a MAJOR test or assignment.  I have had many requests for vacation days and these have all been denied and will remain unexcused.  It is very important we remain consistent with every student.

Thank you for your cooperation.

  • October 28th we will be taking field trips to the Evansville Zoo and Mammoth Cave. In the spring students will travel to the opposite site from the fall. Please avoid doctor’s appointments and encourage attendance that day.

A small note on the Freshmen Academy, things are going well. Students are getting to class on time, turning in assignments, and are really well behaved overall. Thanks for your support and cooperation. If you need assistance, please contact any teacher, Mr. Taylor, or Mr. Purcell.

Thanks from the Freshmen Academy
