Hey Class of 2006-

Couple of things to remember-Remember to order your class shirt or hoodie on January 27 th and January 28 th during lunch. Then again on February 1 and February 2 and the shirts are $10 and hoodies are $20. If payment is by check, make it out for the exact amount to Apollo High School .

GUEST SPEAKER-If you are interested in learning more about the career of social work, there will be a guest speaker at Apollo on Tuesday, February 15 at 8:20 a.m. You must sign up in the guidance office to attend this meeting.

ASVAB PRACTICE MEETING ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3 AT 10:06. This meeting will provide you the opportunity to take a practice ASVAB test and get your results. Sign up in the guidance office to attend.

ANOTHER ACT/SAT INFORMATION SESSION - THIS WILL EXPLAIN HOW TO FILL OUT THE PACKET AND GET READY. IT IS NOT A STUDY SESSION. THIS WILL BE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 15 AT THE BEGINNING OF 1 ST PERIOD. SIGN UP IN GUIDANCE TO ATTEND . (will last 45 minutes)

Speaking of ACT and or SAT testing dates-- For those of you getting ready to take the test, please review the pretest, get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and use your testing knowledge. On the ACT---remember you ACT now and guess if you do not know the answer. Don't spend an abundance of time on questions you have no clue about and wear a watch to the testing center.

ACT dates are April 9 and you must have your registration in by March 4

And June 11 and packet must be mailed in by May 6. YOU MAIL THE PACKET IN OR YOU CAN REGISTER ON LINE AS WELL.

MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY- is having a Commonwealth Honors Academy June 11 to July 2. You must have a 3.5 grade point average and an appropriate ACT, PSAT, SAT, or PLAN test score). I announced this during the last CAP meeting as well. See me for further information.

Listen for the essay competitions I give to your English teachers. I have found essay competitions in magazines, please look for these as well.

A program called College Goal Sunday will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 27. Information regarding financial aid will be presented. Please inform your parents, they may want to tape this program for future use. This will be held AT KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE AT ROGERS HALL ( WINCHESTER CENTER ). _____

INTERESTED IN WINNING A FREE TRIP TO WASHINGTON D.C. IF SO, READ ON. Kenergy is proud to announce that they will once again be sponsoring the Washington Youth Tour Program. Four juniors from Kenergy's 14-county service area will be selected to attend the Washington Youth Tour. You will be given material to review regarding the history of Kenergy and you will take a quiz as well. If you are interested and qualify, see Jan Young ASAP.

I am giving Career Interest Inventories to anyone that would like to look at possible careers. Sign up in the guidance office.

GOOD LUCK TO THOSE JUNIORS THAT WILL BE AUDITIONING FOR THE GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS. THE FOLLOWING STUDENTS APPLIED TO THE GSA, WERE GIVEN AUDITION DATES AND WE SAY GOOD LUCK TO: CHASE CAVIN, MATTHEW CECIL, BOBBY JOE CLARK, CESLEY HAMILTON.

February 1- You will receive information regarding scheduling for next year. Review the curriculum guide for courses that will continue to help you with that get through the freshman year of college.

If you are going to attend summer school to make up credit deficiencies - The dates are June 6-July 2. These dates include both sessions. You will receive more information regarding how to register and the time line at a later date.
