January 3, 2005
Welcome to a new year,
First semester of the junior year flew by and the second semester will go by just as quickly. Don’t let this time go by without investigating future college choices, scholarships, required tests, and important information from me. There is information on the website regarding junior information and to access the website you go to www.ahs.dcps.org and click on the Guidance tab. The information can be located in the junior section and this information was given to all juniors. On October 13, 2004, juniors were encouraged to take the PSAT and the results are now available for students to pick up in the guidance office.
On Thursday, January 13 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a financial aid workshop held in the auditorium. This session is mainly for senior parents, but there have been some junior parents already researching financial aid programs. The session will last for one hour, but the FAFSA forms and majority of information will be given out by 7:00 p.m.
I will begin a JUNIOR meeting in the library at 7:00 p.m. to review the PSAT scores as well as other material that is important. If your son/daughter did not elect to take the PSAT, you are still welcome to attend the junior meeting.
In order to make sure that your son/daughter’s PSAT results are available for you at the meeting, please call Kristi Tong (852-7105) in the guidance office and give her your son/daughter’s name. If your son/daughter already has his/her results, bring the test booklet he/she received as well. If you are unable to attend the meeting, appointments can be made during the day by calling guidance and setting up a time.
Sincerely,
Jan Riney Young
Guidance Counselor
