Hello Parent/Guardian of a Senior,

If you are like most of us here at Apollo, you find it hard to believe that the summer is quickly fading and we are back to school. You may be even more surprised that your son or daughter is in their final year of high school. I will be working with them throughout the year trying to convey any information that I think would be useful. I hear from many parents that information never makes it home, so I invite you to look on-line at www.ahs.dcps.org and peruse the school web page, paying special attention to the senior letters found under the Guidance heading.

You are also invited to the Fall Parent Information Meeting that will be held on Tuesday, September 14 th at 6:30 in the Auditorium here at Apollo. We will prepare a packet with some of your child’s information included, so please call (852-7105) or e-mail me (kjohnson@dcps.org) if you plan to attend. If you don’t call, a packet will not be prepared for you. We will be going over important dates and other vital information that we hope will prove beneficial in this final year. There will also be a financial aid meeting held in January to assist you with filling out the FAFSA.

I will give out the first senior newsletter this week and am encouraging your son/daughter to meet with me in a group of 4 to 5 other seniors the next two weeks to look at a checklist of things they should be in the process of completing. I also want to remind you that the Class of 2005 has to have at least 26 credits and pass all of their required classes in order to participate in graduation in May.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve your child and look forward to the evening in May when they receive their diploma. An even greater joy is to have them return several years from now to share their accomplishments with us. If I can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Keith E. Johnson
