Senior Newsletter # 6
Welcome back to school and I hope that you are looking forward to finishing your final semester of mandatory education in a strong fashion. There are some real crucial dates that you will need to make sure that you remember. Pay close attention to the announcements and always check the table in front of the Guidance Office during your lunch shift to see if there is anything pertinent to you. Over the next 5 months, you will order your cap and gown, vote on invitations, order invitations, vote on many items surrounding the graduation ceremony, check your name to see how you want it printed on your diploma, verify the type of diploma you will be receiving, having Prom, signing up for senior picnics, lunches, project graduations, filling out your FAFSA, finalizing your selection for a college, possibly selecting a roommate, writing thank you notes for your graduation gifts, going to ballgames, practice graduation, and participate in a countless number of other activities.
Spirit Week is January 24 th-28 th. Mrs. Schmeal has some good activities planned. There is going to be a letter writing campaign to our troops in the Middle East. The charity of choice for the week will be the disaster victims in Southeast Asia. Let’s get behind this and have 100% participation from the senior class.
We are having a Financial Aid Meeting on Thursday, January 13 th at 6:30 in the auditorium. Your parents have been invited to this and should bring the FAFSA form that you received in your English class. It is probably more important for them to be here than it is for you, but you are welcome as well.
Report Cards will be handed out to you on Wednesday, January 12 during CAP Group. Your transcript with last semester’s grades, your new g.p.a. and rank will be ready on Wednesday as well. If you need another one mailed to the school that you have applied to, let us know and we can take care of this. If you have already been accepted to a school, then you shouldn’t have to send them another transcript until after you graduate. For a school based scholarship opportunity, you will need to send them another one though. Remember that transcripts are $1 now, but will be $2 after you graduate.
Also, if you want to become a teacher, you will have to have a composite of 21 or greater on the ACT. You may have been admitted to the University, but sometimes the Colleges within the school have more strict requirements.
