NOVEMBER 2004 *GSA ARTSHOPS HAVE BEGUN* Att: SOPHOMORES
To: Fellow educators and friends of GSA
From: Heather Weston, Director
Governor's School for the Arts (GSA)
Subject: GSA Artshops
The Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is proud to announce that we will once again be holding free arts workshops across the state of Kentucky for all interested high school students. These "Artshops" are designed to give students the opportunity to participate in a hands-on workshop in their chosen art form. Students who are interested in applying to the GSA summer program are highly encouraged to attend an ArtShop to better prepare them for the audition! review process in the Spring. ArtShop participation does not, however, have any bearing on the audition and selection process.
Each high school in Kentucky has received these materials and been asked to share information about upcoming ArtShops. This fall we will be conducting ArtShops in Ashland, Bowling Green (held on Dec 4) , Covington, Lexington, Louisville, Paducah and Williamsburg.
ArtShops are designed to be informative and fun; and we hope you will encourage all of your students to participate. These Artshops are an excellent way for your students to learn more about their art form and to learn more about GSA.
Students can register on-line at www.kentuckygsa.org, or by calling the GSA Helpline, 502-562-0192.
Application brochures for the 2005 summer program are forthcoming. If you or your students have any questions, please call our office at 502-562-0192
