This class is designed for Freshmen and will stress
basic skills in English. Emphasis will be placed on
vocabulary development, the mechanics of writing, and
standard English usage. The literature phase will center
around the characteristics of short stories, novels,
drama, as well as nonfiction.
PUBLIC SPEAKING/DRAMA

Public Speaking/Drama I is open to all students who
wish to explore the world of theater. During the first
semester, the student is introduced to all aspects of
theater, including creative dramatics, theater history,
and basic staging techniques. The second semester provides
a more in-depth study of drama with special emphasis
on play selection and basic acting.

Prerequisite: Drama I , completed application, and permission
of instructor This course is designed for advanced theater
students. Study is devoted to extensive character development
and acting experience, followed by a comprehensive study
of play selecting and directing. The course also provides
a study of play writing in which the student has the
opportunity to combine an interest in theater with basic
composition skills. Students must be enrolled in the
course to participate in the bi-annual productions.
