This course covers the American economic system. It attempts to aid students in understanding how this economic system works and how individuals operate within this system. The focus of the class is to encourage students to make informed personal finance decisions. Economics is a required course for graduation for all students.

U.S. GOVERNMENT Accel./Comp. Semesters 1
Social Studies Credits 0.5
This course covers the national, state and local levels of government with the U.S. It covers rights of individuals within a free society and the role of individuals in American government. It covers the Constitution and the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government. The focus of the class is to encourage responsible student participation in a democracy. Government is a required course for graduation for all students.

WORLD CIVILIZATION Accel./Comp. Semesters 2
Social Studies Credits 1
This course follows a chronological survey of World Civilization from 1500-present using a variety of tools including primary and secondary sources, data, and artifacts. This chronological perspective helps the students develop an understanding of the importance of eras in World Civilization and recognizes cause-and-effect relationships, multiple causation, and the role of individuals and groups, social, political, economic, and geographic characteristics of each era. World Civilization is a graduation requirement for all students.

FINE ARTS Accel Semesters 2

This course is an interdisciplinary survey of the beliefs, thoughts, values, traditions, and customs of humankind as reflected in history, art, literature, language, and folklore. Note: The Arts & Humanities Core Content Guidelines will be emphasized.
