IB Biology is an in-depth, two-year program designed
to explain the key concepts in the study of biological
life. Students will be guided through the course by
themes that emphasize the unity of all living systems.
Participants will develop techniques using the scientific
method and learn to prepare and test their own laboratory
experiments. In the first year, topics will include:
chemistry of life, cells, cellular respiration and photosynthesis,
nucleic acids and proteins, genetics, evolution and
ecology. This class is a required component of the IB
Diploma Programme.
BIOLOGY I Comp Semesters 2

This is a general course designed to illustrate the
similarities and differences between living things.
Topics covered include basic units on cells, genetics,
evolution, classification, research method, protozoans,
plants and a brief survey of the animal kingdom.
BIOLOGY I Accel. Semesters 2
Science Credits 1
Prerequisite: Recommendation of science teacher This
course consists of an in depth study of cellular biology
using an anatomical and physiological approach. Also
included are units on cell reproduction, genetics, morphology,
classification, evolution and plants.
PHYSICS AP Semesters 2
Science Credits 1
Prerequisite: Enrolled in Pre Calculus (special permission
if in Alg III) This course is open to all seniors who
plan to major in science, medicine, or engineering in
college and wish to earn college credit by taking the
AP Exam. This course will provide an in-depth study
of the following: principles of mechanics, electricity,
magnetism, heat, sound, light, and certain topics in
modern physics. Experimental and problem-solving techniques
will be stressed.
