CHEMISTRY AP AP Semesters 2
Science Credits 1
Prerequisite: Accelerated Chemistry or Honors Chemistry AP Chemistry offers students advanced-level and enrichment experiences in concepts involving chemical changes of matter. Laboratory activities and investigations are presented in the spirit of inquiry and research. This course is designed for the students who are interested in pursuing a career in the science area.

Prerequisite or Concurrent: One year high school Algebra I This course is open to only juniors and seniors. This course is more adaptable to those students who plan to pursue a technical or junior college degree. Basic areas of study include: measurement, matter, energy, the atom, chemical formulas, phases of matter, periodic table, water chemistry, acids and bases, nuclear chemistry and metals.

Science Credits 1
Prerequisite: Algebra I Prerequisite or Concurrent: Geometry This course is open to juniors/seniors that completed CP Biology in 10th grade and plan to attend college. The basic requirement for this class is a “C” or better in Integrated Science and CP Biology. Basic chemistry concepts will be covered with an emphasis on problem solving.

Forensic Science Accel Semesters 2
Science Credits 1
Prerequisite: Integrated Science and Biology and currently enrolled in Chemistry This course offers students the chance to learn how to solve crimes by using different scientific laboratory tests. The history of forensic science will be studied along with the science that is the basis for each test. This will be a hands-on, lab-based course. Some of the areas covered will include critical-thinking, physical science, life science, earth science, archaeology and anthropology. Some of the lessons will include document forgery, crime scene evaluation, fingerprinting, blood-drop analysis, DNA fingerprinting and hair identification.
