This class, the first year of IB Language A1, is the
first step to completing the IB diploma and is required
in order to qualify for the senior level of IB Language
A1 course. This class is open through teacher recommendation.
Class work will cover a minimum of eight (8) major works,
including two (2) Shakespearean dramas and one 20th
century drama, poetry, essays, and at least three (3)
novels. Incorporated into the works studied will be
writing style, literary analysis and commentary (both
written and oral), with additional vocabulary and grammar
development. The successful completion of both an oral
presentation and oral commentary are mandatory for credit
in this class.

This class is the culminating English class for Seniors.
The course will emphasize those skills needed in everyday
life and on the job— reading, filling out applications,
writing resumes and reports, and using English for leisure
activities. New KERA requirements include the keeping
of a writing portfolio. Failure to do this will result
in an “F” for this course.
YEARBOOK Accel. Semesters 2

Prerequisite: Recommendation by the yearbook staff This
class will provide students with the basics of yearbook
production. Areas to be covered are organization, planning,
content, layout and design, theme, ideas, process color,
photography, and copy. Students will help with the production
of the school yearbook, using Yeartech, Aldus Pagemaker,
and other graphic arts technology. Each student will
assume a leadership role in accepting a specific job
assignment to carry throughout the year. This course
may be repeated for credit.
