Computer Maintenance and Support Services Accel. Semesters 2

Students enrolled in this course will be working toward CompTIAs A+ Certification. A+ is an industrywide, vendor-neutral certification program designed and sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). Students will be disassembling and reassembling computers, learning the fundamentals of both computer hardware and different operating systems. Additionally, students will receive an introduction to computer networks and network management. Students will investigate the OSI model and have hands on with Nortel hubs, switches and routers.

Cisco Computer Networking First year Accel. Semesters 4
Math Credits 1
This class is a part of the CISCO Computer Networking Academy. Upon completion of two years of the program, students are eligible to take the test for CISCO “CNA” certification. This particular course is the first year of the program. First semester focuses on Internetworking Fundamentals of the OSI layers and the internetworking devices that fall into the lower layers. Second semester focuses on basic router configuration and maintenance of Cisco routers.

COMPUTER SCIENCE A/JAVA AP Semesters 2
Math Credits 1
This is a rigorous course that emphasizes structured programming techniques. Students will be writing programs in the JAVA Language and running these programs on the computer. The power and flexibility of JAVA together with the availability of JAVA compilers for computers of all sizes has made it popular language in industry for a wide variety of applications. This is a preparatory class for the Advanced Placement test in Computer Science.

IB Computer Science (SL) IB Semesters 2

Prerequisite:Programming in Visual Basic The computer science standard level (SL) programme focuses on software development, fundamentals of computer systems and the relationship between computing systems and society. The emphasis will be on the use of a logical approach and analytical thinking in the context of using a computer to solve problems. Students are expected to acquire mastery of a high-level programming language (Visual Basic), including procedures, functions, data structures and objects. Mastery will be demonstrated through work submitted in the Program Dossier.
