This course develops an understanding of legal rights
and responsibilities in personal law and business law.
Application activities are applied to everyday roles
as consumers, citizens, and workers. The student will
have an understanding of the American legal system,
court procedures, criminal justice system, torts, and
the civil justice system; oral and written contracts,
sales contracts, and warranties, consumer protection;
employer-employee relations; different types and uses
of commercial paper, checks and the banking system;
insurance, real and personal property, and wills and
intestacy. Legal terminology is emphasized

Emphasizes skills needed for managing a business that
involves the selection and supervision of employees
including efficient use of time, personnel, facilities,
and financial recourses. Students are taught the need
for effective planning, organizing, leading, and controlling
by the successful owner/manager. Areas of study include:
forms of business ownership; typical business organizational
structure; relationship of a business to the community;
and government regulations and their effect on business;
the position of the manager in the typical business;
product and service promotion in business; effective
communications; human relations skills required in dealing
with employees; effective management strategies used
in personnel, finance, production, marketing, and information
processing and additional education needs to pursue
a professional management career.

Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation Students enrolled
in this class will operate the student bank, Eagle High
Trust, under the supervision of employees of National
City Bank. Students will apply for a position and be
assigned to one of the jobs, such as teller or computer
operator, after being interviewed. Approval of instructor
is required. See Mr. Gray.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS Accel. Semesters 2

Fee: $5 Computer Applications is an integrated software
package, which means that it combines four popular computer
applications: word processing (write letters and research
papers), database management (make lists of names and
addresses), spreadsheet analysis (record income and
expenses), and communications (exchanging information).
