Lessons Learned while at Apollo

Being the cynical and very tired senior I am, I still have yet to give any senior advice or any advice on anything in general. So here come my final words and remarks for those of you that will remain here, and maybe a little something for all of us who are leaving high school and are going into the world beyond.
I never thought I’d actually be sitting here at this computer writing my final goodbye for the Challenger and to Apollo. As a sophomore, I was already becoming one to want to leave here and be in the real world. I look at the past year and become sad because I’m finally coming to realize that I will leave here and end this chapter in my life and I will be on my own. The more I think about it, the more scared I am about having to be totally in charge of myself and my life. But I am very excited as well, because I am ready to become an adult and make something of myself.
First of all, have faith in yourself. We all will make mistakes and screw things up, that’s a fact of life. But it’s what you do with your mistakes and failures that makes you. When you believe in yourself and your stregnth you can pull yourself out of anything and grow from it, no matter how hard or scary the situation may seem at the time.
Have fun and live in the moment. One of my biggest problems was that I was so ready to leave here and this part of my life that I almost missed out on it. Enjoy being young and carefree because it ends a lot sooner than you would ever expect. You don’t want to look back in ten years and wish you’d had more fun and hung out with your friends more during high school. My words are sincere, yet be careful and always look out for yourself. The wierd part about high school is that there are many people and situations you can put yourself in that can scar you. It may seem petty, and it may be juvinile, but for many of us, the things that happen during this part of our lives does in some ways, define us and who we will be.
Through the four years I have spent at this high school, I have had many great moments and memories, and then there were the moments I could have lived without and the times I half-seriously thought about just quitting school all together. I have met many people who have impacted my life in numerous ways and have taught me lessons about life and myself. As much as I hate to admit it, I will miss being at Apollo and those who make up the Eagle family. I have learned alot and not of it I would have expected. I have met many people, made lasting friendships, and loved and lost. I do not regret it. That is the most important thing-- don’t have regrets. Life is not always about winning, losing makes you stronger, and being okay with your choices and mistakes makes you who you are. Be yourself and live life fully.
