Students encouraged to give this Christmas
By: Paul Palmer
Associate Entertainment Editor

The Christmas season is here and the spirit of giving is in the air. As many students can see as they walk through the commns area, there is a giving tree located in the guidance office. Anyone who wishes to spread the joy of Christams to those who cannot afford the material aspects, students are able to pick a name off of the tree and buy the items listed for a certain person in need this holiday season.

Items needed include things such as toys, winter coats, and shoes. Students are encouraged to bring in these items to make the holidays warmer and merrier for everyone.

Junior, Cesley Hamilton expresses how she feels about the giving tree: “ I think that it’s a really good idea. There are so many people who don’t have the things they need. I got a tag off of the tree myself.”

Another charity taking place at Apollo is the canned food drive. Throughout the month of December, canned foods will be accepted.

As an incentive, those who bring a canned food item on the day that they purchase their tickets for the Black and White Affair will pay a dollar less instead of the usual ticket price. With the many students attending the Affair, there is certain to be several donations of canned goods.

If every student at Apollo donates one canned good and picks a name off of the giving tree then the Christmas season will be full of good cheer. Apollo students are encouraged to open their pockets to others in need this holiday season.
