The weather outside is frightfull and the heat in your vehical is so delightfull and as you get out of your car to go inside Wal-Mart you rush to get inside and out of the blistering cold. As you get closer to the door your hear that bell ringing and it gives you an extra shot of Christmas spirit. I’m sure you hardly ever stop and think about how the person standing out in the freezing winter air feels or what motivates them to do these crazy things.
Well if you didn’t know it already, the people that do this are from the Salvation Army. A Christian organization that is passionate about bringing back the true meaning of Christmas. They sacrifice by giving thier time and core body temurature for the sake of others.
According to the Salvation Army’s website, they belive that the joy of caring and sharing is a reapeted over and over again by the “Miricle” of Christmas. The Salvation Army uses their traditional red kettle to collect the money and it has become thier tradmark and has become an inportant part of the Christmas scene. The millions of dollors made each year go to aid needy families, senior citizens, and the homeless. Donations keep with the spirit of the season by providing Christmas dinners, toys, clothing, and basic nesessities for families in need including families of prisoners.
Volenteers work at shelters and bring meels to shut ins and people in hospitals. So the real spirit of the season is not forgotten. The Salvation Army endeavors to bring spiritual light and love to those it serves in the Christmas season.
Although the Salvation army gets noticed more during the holiday season with their loud bells and there bright red clothes they are doing things around all year long behind the scenes. They provide the poor and needy people with help all year long, The Salvation Army has a church and a store that provide used clothing for the less fortunate or somebody just seeking a deal.
So this holiday season, be encouraged and motivated by thier goodwill and try to give to others. When you walk by the door in your favorite retail store be sure to empty your change into that bright red kettle and be sure to thank those volenteering thier time to help out others and remind us of the true meening of Christmas
