Challenger

These men stand before you in the midst of guitars, drums, pianos and other seemingly usual instruments. These guys look normal or at least like normal musicians. A vast array of thoughts and preconceived notions rush through your brain as you stand five feet from the band as they frantically tune up, get everything sound checked and set up. You wonder what they sound like. Are they going to be any good? How good could they be? I only paid ten bucks. Then, it happens: the waves of the first chord sail through the air and enter your ear canal and from there into the depths of your very soul. The beauty of it so mysterious and so gentle you want to close your eyes and levitate off the floor. The rest of the band then joins and you are once again blown away by the energy and thought behind every pitch, every riff, and every moment of silence.

Music is one of life’s biggest passions whether playing, listening, or going to shows. And every show I attend my hope is for the same experience I have had only handful of times. There are two bands that have never ceased to amaze me, a band from Bowling Green, KY called Foxhole, and a band from Murphysboro, TN called Aireline. People drive hours to see these bands, but believe it or not, these two bands and others are coming to Owensboro for a show.

The show will be held at The Brothers Una Pizza on Sunday Feb 27 at 7:00 pm. It seems like a very weird place for a concert, but the atmosphere is perfect for a show such as this. Tickets will be 10 dollars at the door and 8 if you buy them in advance at the shop. As if the show wasn’t enough those gracious Edwards brothers have decided to throw in a personal pan pizza and unlimited refill soft drink with admittance. And this is no ordinary pizza some have gone as far as to say it’s the best pizza they have ever had. This show is a landmark for Owensboro because it could get us in the loop of the underground music scene in which we have been out of for a number of years. If this show goes well and the turn out is good, the word will spread and it will pave the way for many more concerts. So if your always complaining about how there is nothing to do in Owensboro come to this incredible show and do your part to revive our town. You will not be disappointed!
