Bush sworn in to office as forty-third president
By: Paul Palmer
Assoc. Entertainment editor

The presidential inauguration happens every four years. This special day is filled with ceremonious events such as a lavish banquet and celebration in the newly sworn president’s honor.

The president subject to this inauguration will be George W. Bush and the theme for his ceremony is planned to be the Bicentinnial of the Lewis and Clark expedition and
Theodore Roosevelt.

The presidential inaugurations are shrouded in tradition which span back to our first president, George Washington. George Washington was inaugurated at Federal Hall in new York on the thirtieth of April in the year 1789. George Washington recited an oath with his right hand placed upon a bible.

The cost of the 2005 inauguration festivities will surpass that of the inauguration festivities of 2001 as well as Bill

Clinton’s inauguration in 1993 when the Democrtaitc party had a candidate in the White House for the first time in twelve long years.

Those who are planning to attend will be subject to heavy security checkpoints, which is not suprising considering the terrorism threats. The President’s personal security is heavily priced. Estiamtions on the price add up to a whopping 30 million to 40 million dollars.

The inauguration will occur at the very end of January and several performing artists are slated to attend and perform for the newly inauguarated president. The list of performers scheduled to attend include: American Idol’s second season winner Rubben Studdard, pop star Hillary Duff, new pop star Jo Jo, Gloria Estefan, and the rock band, 3 Doors Down.

Apollo’s IB students will attend the inauguration.
