Smile people, life should be a party
by: Katie Pickens
Sports Editor

Smiling is probably one of the most enjoyable, uplifting actions you can obtain. Seriously, that feeling you get when you see that special someone you are secretly admiring or you reminisce a funny memory or are just plain in an awesome mood.....nothing in the world can beat that. I think these days people, especially high schoolers, tend to focus their happiness on things or people that create turmoil in their moods and allow the negative aspects to turn their wonderful smiles upside down.

Now, everyone has their bad days. You may fail a test you were striving to ace. You may have a bad breakup or get dumped by the supposable “love of your life”. Well, those things can really create bad moods and major disappointment, but the thing to always remember is that everyone in the world, let alone our high school, goes through a crisis every single day. They’re not there to dwell on or tick you off for the entirety of your high school days. They happen so that you’ll be a stronger person and learn from your misjudgments and mistakes.

Man, I just love being happy. I love it when I have a good day in all my classes and don’t once slack off. I love being around my close friends between classes and being able to socialize and talk and joke with them all. I always ponder about my future upcoming years and think of my senior year, graduation and college. One day soon, I’m going to wake up and realize that I don’t have much time with these people I am aquired and am close friends with. In a couple of short-lived years we’ll all be split up and on with our new, busier, more important lives. Will we stay as close as we are now? The honest answer here is no, we probably won’t. In college, we will make new friends and be inolved in new activities. Hey, it’s not as if we can all pick the same major and sign up for all the exact same courses. Right now, we’re all focused on right now, this moment, this year....and that’s the way it should be. Make every single day special and put a happy smile on your happy faces. Because sooner than later, the time for some sadness will be on it’s way, as it may already be for those seniors this year. The thought of leaving behind those you love and care about, driving away from Apollo High’s parking lot for the very last time...
So guys, why frown and dwell on your unhappiness and the cruelty of this world? I say, live your life as though you may not make it to tomorrow. Stop hating people, holding grudges from the past, and take the jokes you used to get mad about. They’re pretty funny you know.
