AHS presents Mentor Kids Bowl
By: Cesley Hamilton
Assoc. News Editor

Every year, students at Apollo High School have the opportunity to participate in Bowl for Kids’ Sake. This year it was held on March sixth at Diamond Lanes from one p.m. to six p.m. Participants bowled in hour long sessions.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake is the most important fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters. It pairs caring mentors with Marin and Napa kids. Ninety percent of the profits raised at Bowl For Kids’ Sake go directly to the program and to the kids that are involved.
Students must put together teams of five and raise at least $30 each in order to participate in this event. The point is not to bowl a 300 (perfect bowling score for those who didn’t know), it’s to help out those children who need it and to have a blast.
Mentors got to pig out on free pizza and cokes. They got the chance to hang out with their friends, and get team pictures made. Also they more than likely met new people from around the community. Ask anyone who has done this in the past and they will surely talk about how much fun it was.

Kendall Grider, a senior, participated in Bowl For Kids’ Sake last year. “I love to bowl so I signed up. My team was called the Alley Cats. We bowled for like an hour and it was a lot of fun. It felt good raising money for all of the kids. They were adorable.”

Obviously, this is not a boring thing to do, or else so many people would not talk about how much fun it was. To all of those who participated from everyone at the Apollo Challenger staff, it is hoped that you had fun.
