Polar Plunge: A chilling success
by: Cholivan Davenport
Reporter

Saturday, February 5th, 2005, people of the Special Olympics were ready to take a bone-chilling dive into a 35 degree water sharply at 11 am. Before the day of the plunge, they put hundreds of pounds of ice into the water to freeze it. The plunging victims were: Tina Blandford; the yellow M&M; Kanasa Cooper; 16, the blue M&M, Paola Wilson; 17, the green M&M. The CEC (Council For Exceptional Children) the school group did everything they could to raise money as high $396 giving them a chance to win 1st prize for the biggest team, unique costumes, and huge amounts of money.

Randy Wilson, Jackie Bennett, and Lynsie Whitaker decided to collect the donations. All it took them was preserverance and teamwork to come out on top.

People served appetizers and other kinds of foods for their “tasty enjoyment.”

People came from all around to participate. There even were former Apollo students that partipated. The Polar Plunge was a great success and everyone involved had fun.
