Principle of the thing
Winter Sports Wrap-up

As the sound of “Play ball” becomes ever so prevalent, let’s not forget the memorable moments experienced during our winter sports. Our basketball teams experienced great seasons once again with our E-gals winning the 9th District before falling to eventual 3rd Region champion, Ohio County in a hotly contested semi final game at Eagle arena.

Our cheerleaders won the 3rd Region Cheerleading Championship thus earning a berth in the state championships at Eastern Kentucky University. Our young ladies, under the supervision of Ms. Schmeal and Ms. Trunnel, always represent AHS in the grandest fashion.

And how about having the opportunity to watch Kentucky’s number one dance team on a regular basis? Our Eaglettes were always a hit during halftime our basketball games.
A special thank you is extended to Mr. Benningfield and our jazz band for performing wonderfully during many of our basketball games. Incidentally, our concert band just received a distinguished rating at the KMHS at 2nd District Concert Band Assessment Event.

Under the direction of Bill Duncan, our swimmers were able to perform admirably this season. Alysha Mayes was our lone representative at the state swimming and diving meet.

AHS also was represented this year at the regional wrestling tournament in which we were so close to having a couple of young men qualify for the state wrestling tournament.

Thanks to all who helped during the 3rd Region Girls Basketball Tournament. Nothing could have been accomplished without you.
