Owensboro’s Christmas Parade
by: Cesley Hamilton
Assoc. News Editor

Every year many people anticipate the annual Christamas Parade in Owensboro. This year the parade is on Noveember 20th at 4 p.m. Everyone just can’t wait to see the brightly illuminated floats, the clowns, the cars, the horses, the bands, and of course, Santa Clause as the conclusion to the parade.

People come to the parade for different reasons. Some, for example, come to see all of the floats. Other people come to see the different middle and high school bands that perform in the parade. Some simply come to see friends and family that are there that may not have been seen in a long time.

There are many different organizations from Apollo High School who are doing something in the parade this year.

The FFA will have a float that has many toys, trees, and FFA members on it. The Band will be marching and playing Sleigh Ride. Habitat for Humanity is using the theme “Christmas in Toyland.” The float will contain a gingerbread house and students dressed up as Hansel, Gretel, and the witch. The Blue and white cheerleaders will be marching, the white cheerleaders will be carrying flags.

Another exciting part of the parade is all of the venders who sell hot chocolate, especially when the parade gets extra chilly after dark. There are also venders walking around selling balloons, cotton candy, glow- in- the- dark necklaces, and other things to occupy the smaller children awaiting a glimpse of their beloved Santa Clause.

Go out and see all of your fellow Apollo students who are in the parade, whether they’re cheerleaders, FFA, Habitat for Humanity, or are in the band, or if you are in it, have fun. Don’t forget to be good. Remember, Santa Clause is always watching you.
