Happy Thanksgiving
Have you stopped to think about how fortunate you are? Sure some people are more fortunate than others, but to have one’s senses is something to be very thankful for. I think about my childhood from time to time after having talked to students who experience what I have previously gone through at his or her age. Life at times seems so unfair, even as an adult. But invariably the sun does rise eventually and things work out. Speaking of the sun, it is not shining on this November afternoon. It will rise again!
Thanksgiving is a special time to reflect on why we may need to be thankful. So, what will I be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day? Well, for starters, I will be thankful for being alive and having another opportunity to spend time with my family. I will also be thankful for the clothes on my back, the food in my refrigerator, the roof over my head and the car that I drive. I will be thankful of the sounds I hear, the sights I see and my ability to smell Thanksgiving dinner being prepared. Yes, I too have a lot to be thankful for not only on Thanksgiving, but every day. As you awaken on Thanksgiving, I challenge you to give some thought as to what you can be thankful for. Even for the individual who seemingly has everything, there must be something to be thankful for.
As I close, I have just remembered that I have another thing to be thankful for each and every day. This one thing is opportunity to help shape the lives of the youth here at Apollo High School. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
