The second set of Apollo’s Senior Sweet Sixteen has been chosen. The seniors are chosen for this honor by a council of teachers that is led by Mr. Broughton based on their academics and involvement while they were a student at Apollo.
The third senior sixteen member is Jake List. While at Apollo, Jake has been in ROTC four years holding positions as Vice-Color Guard sophomore year, Color Guard junior year, and Corps Commander his senior year. He has also been involved in Squadron Commander at Kentucky Leadership School 2004 and Air Force Delayed Enlistment Program.
Some of his memories while at Apollo are knocking Patrick Bennett out during boxing, Lt. Col. Fazzio’s jokes and analogies, First Sgt. Hunt screaming at the top of his lungs, Chief Creech’s long push- ups, Chief May’s speech, all the good times on Color Guard, and the laughter he gets when he tells his subordinates that they will like him, and he’s really nice deep down inside.
Jake’s plans after high school are enlisting in the U.S. Air Force with a four-year contract to Special Forces Combat Control. After enlisting, he plans on attending the U.S. Air Force Academy and make the military his life.
The fourth senior sweet sixteen member is Raina Remole. While at Apollo, Raina has been in FFA, Alumni Committee Chairperson, Key Club president, FBLA historian, Golf team 10th and 11th grade, ENL, NHS, and Beta Club. She is also involved in Cheerzone All-stars Dance, and Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Youth Group.
Some of her memories while at Apollo are Mrs. Spaw, Mr. Gray, and all FBLA officers in FBLA field trips, FFA trips with Mr. Story, Kara and her love/hate relationship, Hannah, Jodi, Kristen, Kara, Jessica, Amber and Kelly who are her best friends for much longer than high school, Stephen Coke and all the great memories, and dancing the chicken dance vs. DC and beating them 43-0.
Her plans after graduation are attending Western Kentucky University and majoring in communications disorders and becoming a speech pathologist.
