The E-Gals are heading to state
by: Alex Headley
Business Manager

It was obvious at the Region Championship the E-gal volleyball team was there to win. Recieving their first region title, the E-gal s beat Grayson County 25-15 and 25-12.
“We weren’t going to let anything stop us from state. This is what we’ve worked for all season,” said Natalie Hardesty, a senior on the volleyball team.

Everyone contributed to the success. In the first match, the team held a strong lead with Hardesty’s aggressive serves. Because of captain Emilee Duvall’s terrific sets, Chasity Thomas had 9 kills and Heather Young had 5. Katie Cecil was consistent throughout the match and was an important defensive player.
During the second game, Amber Spurrier helped on the serving line. Defensive specialist Katie Thompson played tenacious defense. Sophomores Katie “Conway” Carpenter and Whitney Odom made a significnt effort for the win.

The All-3rd Region Tournament team members from Apollo were Chasity Thomas, Emilee Duvall and Natalie Hardesty.

On Friday October 29 the volleyball team will play at the state tournament in Frankfort. They’ll compete against Fort Thomas Highlands.

“Being a part of Apollo’s team has been a blessing. We’ve never had a team this close that gets along so well. You’re all crazy, but I like you,” said captain Emilee Duvall.
