We’re improving!
CATS scores were made public last week last and we are designated as a “Progessing Novice Reduction” school. We made huge progress on our academic index. The index increased from 73.5 in 2003 to 81.8 in 2004. This is in great part due to the hard work of our students and staff. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Many of you will receive merit rewards as well as other incentives promised to you for scoring proficient and/or distinguished in your specific areas on the assessment.
This is how our specific academic areas scored:
AREA 2003 2004
Reading 80.6522 83.5005
Mathematics 75.4555 84.8818
Science 70.8330 80.0160
Social Studies 71.8766 85.4171
Arts/ Humanities 73.1330 86.2658
Prac. Living 85.0253 92.4286
Writing 63.3129 67.5148
Other data used include attendance, drop out, and retention rates as well as successful transition to adult life; these are known as non-academic indicators. Our freshmen contribute by taking the CTBS test during the testing window.
As mentioned previously, we are making huge progress and you certainly need to be proud of your individual and school accomplishments. Great job and let’s do it again in April.
