The first two members of Apollo’s Senior Sweet Sixteen have been chosen. The seniors given this award were chosen by a council of teachers, headed by Mr. Broughton based on academics and involvement during their years at AHS.

The first senior sweet sixteen member is Mitch Sharber. During his years at Apollo Mitch has been involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Christian Student Involvement, the track team, web page design team, cross country team, and swim team. Some memories Mitch has of the Eagle Family are of all the good times he had with the cross country teams and playing Mafia on the long bus rides, throwing tennis balls with Nick Headley at Swim Regionals and all the good times with the team, fine arts with Mrs. Sanders, blue tacos at the Hillbilly Run, and playing the name game at lunch his junior year..

Mitch’s plans after graduation include attending Eastern Kentucky University or Murray State University in the fall of 2005. He hopes to someday get into the FBI.
The second candidate chosen for the award was Taryn Rice. Taryn has been involved in many oraganizations at Apollo including Students for Life, NHS, academic team, Young Republicans, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and reading mentorship. Taryn is also a band section leader, picked for All-District band, and is in the WKU Honor Band. She is the copy editor of the yearbook as well.

Taryn’s memories of her years at Apollo incorporate spring break in Florida and riding the bus with Caroline, prank calling Dustin and Jonathan in New York, all the fun band trips and competitions the past four years, Mrs. Austin’s 3rd blue day pre-cal class, and Mrs. Humphrey’s encouragement and words of advice.

Taryn’s plans after graduation are to attend Georgetown College or Campbellsville University and major in history.
