Apollo football taking flight over the compitition in 04

Apollo football has been better and better every year and this year is no diffrent starting off this season 4-1.
The first game of the soaring eagles season begin aganist Christian County Apollo was in for a fight. Apollo came out on the offensive scoreing first.
Apollo put up 14 points in the first quarter but Christian Co. put up 21 so at half time the two teams were tied. After the half the two teams were ready for more but christian Co. won 37-21.
During the game David Howard completed 8 of 20 passes for 118 yards passing and 1 touchdown.
On the Ground Attack Erick Wettstain and James Williams lead the way.
Erick had 9 att. for 50 yards with a 5.6 yard average.
James had 11 att. for 39 yards for a 3.5 yard average.
On the recieving end of thing Jordon Gray and Ben Duvall lead the way.
Jordon Gray caught three receptions for 59 yards. He had a 19 .7 yard averge.
Ben Duvall caught two receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown.
On aug.27 Apollo played Meade county. Once again Apollo went on the offensive scoreing 14 points in the first half. Apollo had a nice Halftime cusion at 14-0.
After the break Meade county scored 13 but Apollo caused a safety late in the game to insure a 3 point victory at home.
On the passing Attack was David Howard passed for a 103 yards on 7-16 passing for a 43.8 passer rating.
In the running game James Williams ran for 78 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown. Also Erick Wettstain ran for 37 yards on 9 carries.
On the recieveing en d James Williams caught 2 rec. for 45 yards and 1 touchdown. and Reggie Wilson caught 2 rec. for 28 yards.
On Sept. 9 Apollo played district rivial Catholic which would make Apollo a threat to win the city county Championship.
Apollo started off quick scoreing 28 points in the first half and led the Aces 28 to 6 at half time. After the break Apollo added 7 but catholic fought back adding 6.
Then in the 4th and final quarter Apollo was held scoreless and catholic scored 14. With this win Apollo showed their strenght in Districk play.
David Howard had a big game passin for 184 yards on 14 of 25 passing for a 56 percent passer rating. He averaged 13.1 yards a completion and a touchdown.
On the fround James Williams ran for 105 yards on 20 carries and scored a touchdown. Erick Wettstain added with 12 carries for 63 yards and 5.3 yards a carry. Erick also had a touchdown. Travis Rightmeyer ran the ball 6 times for 43 yards and a touchdown for 7.2 yards a carry.
The recevers did well Reggie Wilson caught 3 passes for a touchdown and 34 yards. Jordon Gray caught 6 passes for 108 yards for a 18 yard receiving average.
Apollo's next game was against a tough contest against Central Hardin. Apollo came out soaring into a big lead in the first half and headed in to half time with a 35 to 0 lead and had to eventualy put the JV in so they would not destroy Central hardin completely.
Central Hardin finally scored in the fourth quarter to make the final score 49-7. This game show just how tough Apollo's defense just has become over the past year.
Apollo became ranked 22th in stae after that game and the next games was against John Hardin who was ranked 14th in state. Apollo would meet this challenge and destroied it.
Apollo and John Hardin started off about the same Apollo scored 7 in the first quarter and John Hardin only had 6. After this Apollo's deffense ampted up and shut down John Hardin.
The rest of the game John Hardin was held scoreless. Apollo on the other hand apollo scored 7 more points in the first half and went into half time with the leas 14 to 7.
After the halftime break Apollo came out with 14 points in the second half and John Hardin did not score any points. The final score was 28 to 6.
Apollo's next game is aginst the Daviess County Panthers. So far this season Apollo is for and 1 and I has scored a total of 149 points and has held their opponets to only 89 points.
In their non-league play Apollo is 4-1 and has an 80 percent winning average. Apollo's game sept 24 against Daviess County is going to be their first test in district play and they would love to see every student at Apollo to fill the stands as we kick the kitty.
So far this yaer Apollo has passed for 586 yards on 40- 80 passing. For a 50% passing completion. Also they have passed for of an average of 117.2 yards a game.
On the ground game this season Apollo has ran 165 times and has rushed for 780 yards. For a 4.7 yard ruching average.
For a total offensive out put of 1366 yards for and average of 273.2 yards agame.
Individualy this season James Williams has rushed for 413 yards. He has 131 yards recieving and 203 punt and kick return yards for 11 touchdowns. With 190 total yard average per game.
Jordon Gray has also added with 324 yards recieving for 3 touchdowns.
David Howard has passed for 586 yards on 40 of 79 completino percentage. A 79.a passer rating and has averaged 117.2 yards a game.
On the defensive side of the ball Apollo has caused 10 fumbles this season and has held their oponents to 89 points this season.
