NHS and Beta Club Start

Both the National Honors Society and National Beta Club have elected new members for the 2004-2005 school year. Mr. Paff is the sponsor of the National Honor Society and Mrs. Jarboe sponsors the National Beta Club. Both clubs are very presitige to be asked to be in.
In order to be a member of the National Honors Society you must maintain a 3.5 G.P.A., not have any unexcused absences from school ever, participate in community service activites, and be involved in the club.
The requirments for Beta Club are being involved with the club, participate in community service projects, meet points deadlines, and maintain the G.P.A. that is required. By the end of the first semester Juniors must have 27-28 points and Seniors must have 37-38 points. Members may only have two unexcused absences or they will be dismissed from the club.
Some projects that the National Honors Society has already been involved in is Freshman Orientation and Eagle Fest. Members will be participating in Family Frieght Night, Annual Chili Supper, Rake and Run, Ornament Sales, Christmas Caroling, Data Match, Special Olympics, New Member Invites, and Honors Night. Members are also required to do one individual community service project on their own. The club will be traveling to the State Convention during February.
The National Beta Club members plan to participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Walk, Street Sweep, Induction for New Members, can food scavenger hunt, fundraiser, and a blood drive. Members also participate in the adopt-a-street-program on Tamarack/Carter during October and March. They also will be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to be in the State Convention.
