Yee Haw! Sadie Hawkins opened up as the first big dance of the fresh new school year. Several students bought tickets to participate throughout Friday night on September the third. Daisy May and Little Abner were chosen the night of the dance.

Seniors Casey Payne, Katie Cecil, and Hillary Holcumb were nominees for Daisy May.

Seniors Mark Boon, Eric Wettstain, and Larry Wedding were nominated for Little Abner. Those students were given buckets to raise money to benefit the Stephen Coke Scholarship fund. Around one-thousand, seven hundred and ninety dollers was raised by those six chosen students.
Senior Hillary Holcumb was elected Daisy May. Hillary describes Sadie Hawkins as, "A total success." Holcumb says, "Winning Daisy May was an honor. I enjoyed raising money for Stephen. It was so much fun and it felt so awesome!"

The memory of Stephen Coke will remain with several students as well as"The Eagle Family" at Apollo High School forever, and always. "When I found out that the boys were going to give little Abner to him, I was really touched." Hillary expressed.

The three senior boys nominated for Little Abner had put all the money they had raised together, and donated it to Stephen's fund. Stephen Coke won 2004's Little Abner! Hillary begins to explain that raising the money was a rewarding job. She was proud to raise money for Stephen. "Most students would just dump out all of their change from their pockets and throw in my bucket." The extra pocket change helped out a bunch.
As for dressing up for Sadie Hawkins, "You don't have to look perfect!" Comments senior Mandy Trogden. For Mandy, getting ready for Prom and Sadie Hawkins are two totally different experiences. "Sadie Hawkins is so much fun because you do not have to put so much money on preparing yourself. For one thing, getting your nails done, or having perfect looking hair that you spent hours on takes so much time! Compared to Prom, Sadie Hawkins is less stressful!" Sadie Hawkins becomes much more of a convenience for students. Mandy explains, "I can easily just throw up my hair or even wear pig-tails to the dance, and still look cute! It is definitely a lot of fun!" Trogden expresses that you can just let yourself go for the Sadie Hawkins dance. "At Sadie Hawkins you don't have to worry if someone else is going to have on your same dress, or accessories, because if they do, you are like, oh my gosh!" She tells of how it could definitely be an embarrassment to look and see someone else wearing an identicial dress.

Senior April Haney explains the difference in "Dancing" to be so much more comfortable. "It is so much easier to dance and shake your body in Sadie Hawkins outfit!" As for Prom, "you aren't able to shake it and look as cute!" April remarked.

Many students walked around during the night of the Apollo football game, taking pictures of one another. Senior Kendall Grider began to describe Sadie Hawkins night as a thrill. "The highlight of my Sadie Hawkins night was when I was at the game taking pictures with all my friends!” At the same time she was able to, "See everyone's cute and decorative outfit for the dance!" Kendall explained that she thought the Eaglettes outfits were especially "Cute," and how the girls jean shorts "Definitely went along with the country setting of the Sadie Hawkins dance!”

Senior Kim Gregory explains that she enjoyed “Being able to cheer barefoot!” The cheerleaders were also able to cheer pop warner chants during the night of the game
Many students will miss the exciting dances. Senior Dennae Miller explains that she will miss the Sadie Hawkins dances."Ever since freshmen year I've been to all the Sadie Hawkins dances. To me, they were so much fun because I enjoyed getting a shirt made and having a partner to match me! I will miss the many memories at the dance!”
