Nancy Schmeal began her teaching career at Apollo High School in 1971. She has put in thirty-three years of hard work and dedication into being a P.E. and Health teacher.
Schmeal attended Kentucky Wesleyan College where she received a teaching degree. She then furthered her education by completing her master degree at Western Kentucky University.

A P.E. teacher at her high school along with many other teachers inspired Nancy to become a teacher. Schmeal said she decided to become a teacher because she loves to be around young people and work with them. She also said it gives her an opportunity to spend more time with her family because school days end at 3:15 and is out for a two and a half month summer vacation.

Nancy is the Blue Varsity Cheerleading Coach , Spirit Club Sponsor, and P.E. and Health Department Coordinator. She became involved with the Cheerleading program by being a cheerleader in middle and high school. She also enjoys working with young, energetic people that are enthusiastic, yet work hard to achieve goals.
When asked what her favorite class at Apollo was she responded saying, “Biomechanics of Movement because it deals with flexibility, strength, and muscular coordination through tumbling and aerobics.”

Mrs. Schmeal is married to Charles Schmeal and has two daughters, Kellie and Jaime. Her daughter Jaime was recently married this summer.

Out of school Nancy enjoys activities such as sports of all types, antiquing, gardening, and cooking.

The one thing that Schmeal said enjoys most about her job is the faculty and staff at Apollo.
