Not just a man in uniform...
by: Amanda Walters
Academic Editor

Have you noticed that man walking around in the nice shiny police uniform? Well guess what…we got a new resource officer this year. His name is Deputy Chris Wolter. And it is pronounced just like it is spelled. Make him feel welcome here at Apollo. Talk to him and make him feel comfortable. He is keeping us safe and making us feel secure here at this wonderful place. So far he has done an excellent job.

Deputy Wolter has been a police officer for about nine years now. Before he lived here in was an officer in Nashville Tennessee for five years. Then he moved to Owensboro. This town is alittle different from Nashville. “My dad, uncle, and grandfather were all cops and that is what made me want to become a cop.” Stated Deputy Wolter. This is his first year working inside a school. This is a break to him and he said he was glad to be inside. But
Well I guess you have seen his big truck sitting in the parking lot. Right? On the side of it in big blue letters it says “K-9 Unit”. Her name is Aysha. She is a German Shepard and lives with Deputy Wolter and his family. The dog does not sniff out drugs so don’t worry kids. This dog is only trained to sniff out and detect bombs and explosives. We are luckier than some high schools because we only have one cop and we don't have a doggie that sniffs out drugs. Our little puppy is only used for bombs. . So don't bring any bombs to school and you will be perfectly fine.

Here is a little advice for freshman. Since you guys are not used to having a police officer around you need to know how to act. He is everywhere and sees everything you do. So be careful. He has teamed up with Mr. Broughton and is not afraid to get you into trouble. They have top keep this place safe for everyone. So behave little freshman and we wont have any problems this year.

Ok well don’t worry I wasn’t trying to scare you. He is really a nice guy and has an awesome personality. Go up and talk to him and become friends with him. Not only can he help you but he can become your friend.

Don’t be intimidated by the cute little puppy either. She is awesome and won’t harm a fly unless she has a purpose. So don’t make her have a reason. Well have a good day Apollo and member welcome our new resource officer and make him feel like a part of the Apollo EAGLE FAMILY.
