Jakob Wellman is the two and a half year old son of Mrs. Wellman, a science teacher here at Apollo High School. He was diagnosed with leukemia around Christmas time last year. He has to make weekly trips to Louisville to receive treatment for this disease. Katie Carpenter and Sarah Fuller, AHS students came up with the idea for the fund drive. The office staff helped with publicity. The money will help the Wellman family with the cost of travel and food.
The Eagle family has risen to the occasion and has generated around $4,500 all together. In the school competition, all the classes raised $3,800 with Mr. Phelan and Mr. Bates classes collecting over $300 each. At this week’s games and other donations, we raised $700.
If you would like to make a donation for this child please contact Apollo High School’s front office and ask how you can help. We would like to say thank you to all our contributors that has helped Jakob in his time of need.
“A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO KATIE CARPENTER & SARAH FULLER FOR ORGANIZING THE AHS FUNDRAISER FOR OUR EAGLE FAMILY SWEETHEART, Jakob Wellman!”
